Swisher Lawn Mowers
Swisher is the product of Max Swisher from Mississippi. He began tinkering with the idea when he was a youth on his parent's farm. According to legend, he created his first self-propelled lawn mower to evade grass cutting - a chore he hated. He did this by first tying a length of rope to a power lawn mower and then attaching the other end of the same rope to a tree. The mower went round and round the tree in circles until the lawn was done and the rope tight. Impressed neighbours asked him to design a similar lawn mower for him. He did and it was the start of a long history of lawn mower production and the beginning of Swisher.

The intent of Swisher then and now was and is to decrease the amount of time you spend on the lawn. Since the first self-propelled innovation, Swisher Mower and Machine Company has manufactured a number of cutting-edge products. The 1945 beginnings have lead to a line of riding mowers, edgers, trimmers and accessories. What the company focuses on are viable solutions to lawn and garden problems.
Swisher offers zero-turn riding mowers - it is considered a pioneer in this area, as well as walk-behinds. They also have tow behind lawn products. Prominent in this class are the Trailmowers and Trailcutters. These two machines are attachments, dragging behind an ATV, lawn tractor or other powered vehicle. They cover anywhere from 24 to 66 inches. Trailcutter is the smaller tow-behind of the two. Trailmower is for the big jobs. Both can cut up woody material as well as grass.
The famous Briggs & Stratton engines are integral to the operation of various Swisher machines including the Z-Max 60 - a 60 inch cutting deck with a 25 hp Extended Life Series Engine and the WB11542F- a walk-behind mower with an 11.5 hp engine.
