Rover Lawn Mowers
Rover Mowers was founded in 1956. The country was Australia, the city, Brisbane. It was a family business based on the publics love with the power lawn mower. The Andersons owned Rover Mower and guided it into the production of a variety of outdoor garden equipment. These included self-propelled reel mowers, push mowers and professional riding mowers as well as clippers, line trimmers and garden shredders.

In 1989, GWA international bought Rover Mowers and the rest of their holdings from the Anderson family. Rovers, as well as Caroma, Sebel, T.H. Martin and Poolrite became divisions of a multinational corporation. The company remained active in Australia, its headquarters in Brisbane with offices throughout Australia and New Zealand. Their current market incorporates 50 different countries in all major continents. Rover Mowers is truly international. GWAIL registered on the Australian stock market on May 20, 1993.
Rover's has always tried to produce machines that are reliable, efficient and environmentally conscious. Rover's line includes such models as professional walk-behinds Super Ute, Leader, Pro Cut50 and Pro Cut 50 self-propelled. The Pro Cut 560 offers a choice between the best engines in the mower business: Honda and Briggs & Stratton. There is also the Rover Easy Start, the Easy StartXtra, Combat, Mulch 'N' Catch, Power Start an and Super Ute INTEK. All feature a durable frame and Briggs & Stratton engines. The Super Ute INTEK is touted for its industrial engine.
Other lines include the riding mowers called Ranger, Raider, Rancher and Lawn King. These machines offer Briggs & Stratton or Honda motors encased in heavy duty, cast aluminium frames. This makes this grade of riding mower tough and long lasting both on the inside and outside. They range in speed from 10 to 20 hp.
In an interesting ploy, Rover Mowers also promotes a motorized or power reel mower, Model 45 Reel Mower, for professionally cut lawns. It is self-propelled with a Briggs & Stratton engine and a 17-inch cutting swathe. It joins other Rover self-propelled mowers including Self Propelled 18, Easy Mow and Pro Cut 50.
The 21st century has not been kind to Rovers. A couple of are being considered for closure and removal to China. Moreover, in spite of Rover's slogan "Built to Last" it looks like the company is going to be sold once again. GAWIL announced this plan in September 2006.
